Pale Pastiche
It would seem that the better a design is, the more prone it is to be copied. Jonothan Ive's team have, for the second time, been submitted to a violation of their intellectual property rights. I have commented on Intel's lack of originality previously. This new rip-off comes in a mould closer to home.
The Luxpro Corporation deals with the manufacturing of Apple's iPod Shuffle. Recently at an consumer electonics expo, Luxpro were found exhibiting a product, called the Super Shuffle, that was essentially the splitting image of the Apple product. I don't know how this mentality works and I wonder if the people involved even considered the implications of their copyright breach.
Speaking of the Shuffle, This weekend marks Steve's 21st and my friends and I have banded together to get him a single big gift in the shape of the 1Gig Shuffle model. This week is full of everything but time for me and in the spirit of spreading myself thinly across it, I am now driving to Jo'Burg to fetch it on Thursday.
Onto, surprisingly, more things Mac: The Visual Arts Department has become the proud owner of 4 new G5's and 6 eMac's. I'm just waiting for that match to strike. I can see myself booking three full days with it irrespective of whether or not I'll need to use it.
This week sees the end of the quarter and, along with it, a marker rendering project, a poster design re-do, a marketing semester test, the installation of two car radioes (I only drove them to the place), a start to a Visual Communication assignment, work on GS Adventures (and probably Land Rover Adventures) lo-tech websites and "studying" for a History of Art module test.
Aside: Looks as though I'm add single sentence paragraphs to my link-ridden post.
Following a lead on another site in the blogosphere, I applied - in a manner of speaking - for a position as a games reviewer for a South African website. It just so happens that the head of the site is a close friend with Tom (main reason for my actually finding the lead in the first place). I met Jian at Tom's 21st and it looks as though I'm going to review Gamecube games and possibly any extra PS2 games that might come my way. This is a very useful position to be in and I'm pleased to have the opportunity.
[sigh] This must be my longest post to date.

Games reviewer, huh. Cool. One day you might advance to editor of Edge magazine. Now THAT would be something!
On a related note. I think the DS sucks. No games. I will use the one dead pixel in the upper screen as an excuse for money back. Might even go for the, *gasp!* PSP...
