[Mac]hinations

I feel like a father. Years spent waiting for a Macintosh and the day finally arrived. The anticipation was killing me. It became worse considering that the beautiful can-do-no-wrong 24-inch machine arrived on the same day that I left for Cape Town. As much as it hurt me, I escorted her home, dropped her off in the studio and proceeded to pack my bag.

I had just enough time to go through the lovely set-up procedure, rip a Shins CD and sync my cellphone before taking my leave. I have to admit that most of the excitement I had for getting home had to do with this beast. It was so easy setting up dsl, importing contacts, creating a birthday calendar and configuring my email client. This was all done with the standard software.

Enough with the geekiness...
Fairest Cape volume II to follow soon.

Hehe. 'The studio', I love it!

I have never used a Macintosh. One day...

Hhmmm... it's all so virginal and white, I'd have thought you would feel like a blushing bride on her wedding night. Congrats, buddy. I'm outrageously jealous.

Talking about a mac isn't really "geeky", geeks use PCs or Linux. The macs have become a very trendy thing now. I wonder if it is the success of the ipod, aggressive marketing, or honestly the merits of the system itself. I have heard it is very easy to use.

I wish they were more interesting looking, I can't see them as much more than white cubes.

I'm so proud that you've finally officially crossed over.

Re: Trevor Record

It's "the merits of the system itself". You'll never know until you own one, but once you do, you can never go back to PC.

Thanks for your comments.

As for the conflicting tastes regarding the design of the Mac, I have yet to see any computer hardware that has had so much though invested in it. For my part, I believe that Sony is the only company that approaches Apple's understanding of product design. The iMac has had a very positive impact on my studio. The aesthetic of the machine has inspired me to be more tidy, spurring me into cleaning up the studio.

As for software, there is no contest... If you try it, you will not go back.
