Coastal Chronicles Pt IV: Of Being Landlocked and Unawares

New year's eve - and a few nights leading up to it - were quite a departure from the stable, usual me. Odds witnessed me stepping outside of myself a couple of times (thankfully I can say mostly for the better). I'll come back to this a little later.

I finally met Jess's missing friends. Having returned from Cambridge, I was pleasantly surprised to find Jo to be a proper person grounded in the physical world that all the rest of us occupy. I began to imagine her as nigh on divine. Jess exaggerates a little, but I'm sure it's to make it easier for me to understand the nature of their relationship. Kay was also a surprise since I had built up an image of her that may be thought of as less than pleasant. I do like them both.

On to the 'Eve'. Hatfield square was probably not the best location for our blowout. Being surrounded by drunken Afrikaners wasn't a very special change to any other night spent there. The mood lightened with the advent of alcohol and I was surprised not to witness any fights break out. Later I found myself at Odds. I wasn't sure at the time but after consulting Carl we confirmed that I had a solid 5 rating since my blood was shead. I cut my thumb - by way of beer bottle - and found my way home - by way of Jarryd's new ride - and into bed - by way of Jess - without any recollection of how. I unfortunately also forgot the romantic dance I shared with Jess. Needless to say, I'm not going to get another first-romantic-act
of 2005.
