Coastal Chronicles Pt II: Of Popularity and Status

Right off the bat, I’d like to say that it was, and remains, absolutely out of my own sphere of reasoning to understand what happened in the Indian Ocean. I have no idea how to even try and also no words for such a loss. GWB must have been wondering if his "War on Terror" should – as does charity – start at home. He did however manage to address the world (a full week after the fact).

Well now, on with it…

While at the beach, I had my first encounter with a sand louse (tick/flea – whatever). The little buggers kept popping out of the sand right where we lay. At the time I thought it odd, but since Jess began collecting the things in a bottle, I thought nothing more of it. Until: a few nights later we planned a night of inebriety on the beach only to come cross paths with our little friends again. It seems they’d decided to storm the beach themselves – it was a shame really since said night was decidedly reek free.

It was difficult to meet new people due to their apparent distaste for Hermanus nightlife. Three nights in a row heralded no clues as to where the party had moved. Strange. Either that or we weren’t invited (probably because of my inability to handle my hard-liquor).
